Beds across three houses on three acres

Children in DFPS conservatorship have often lived through more hardship in a few years than most adults face in a lifetime. When that trauma shows up at home, at school, or in the community, it isn't bad behavior — it's a child asking for help in the only language they have.

New Era RTC South exists for the children who need more than a placement. We provide a structured, therapeutic home where healing happens through daily rhythms, trusted relationships, and the quiet consistency of a place that feels safe to come back to.

Our Principles

How we care for every child in our home.

Four ideas shape every decision we make — from the floor plan of our houses to the pace of a single therapy session. Tap any principle to read the full thinking behind it.

01 Principle Clinical care, paced to the child.

Therapy, structure, and self-regulation work that meets each child where they actually are — not where a treatment plan says they should be.

What this looks like
  1. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), DBT, and trauma-informed care under one roof.
  2. Weekly treatment team reviews with input from direct care staff.
  3. Individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
02 Principle A home designed to feel like home.

Three houses. 21,000 square feet. Real living rooms, real bedrooms, real kitchens. The environment itself is part of the therapy.

What this looks like
  1. Three fully-furnished residential houses across three private acres.
  2. Secure backyards, shared living rooms, and home-style kitchens.
  3. On-site barber, beauty shop, library, and recreation spaces.
03 Principle Room to grow, learn, and just be a kid.

Library, 3D printing lab, dance studio, game rooms, on-site barber and beauty shop. Every space is designed to give children something healthy to reach for.

What this looks like
  1. Three game rooms, a gym, and a dance studio on campus.
  2. 3D printing lab, computers, and a library of thousands of books.
  3. On-site education support and structured daily activity schedules.
04 Principle Safety built on trust, not control.

Children who've experienced trauma don't need more authority — they need relationships with adults who show up consistently, who don't leave, and who mean what they say.

What this looks like
  1. 24/7 staffing with consistent caregiver assignments across shifts.
  2. Trauma-informed de-escalation and co-regulation training for all staff.
  3. Weekly community meetings with youth voice built in.
How We Help

Three steps. One direction. Forward.

Every placement at New Era RTC South follows the same arc — understand the child, build the skills, prepare for what comes next. The pace varies. The direction does not.

01

Assess & Stabilise

We begin by understanding the child — their history, their triggers, and the goals that will make this placement successful.

02

Treat & Build

Clinical therapy, daily structure, and skills-based learning work in parallel — reducing symptoms while building tools that last a lifetime.

03

Transition & Reunify

Preparing the child and their support network for a safe, sustainable transition — whether that's reunification, adoption, or independent living.

A child's healing doesn't happen in a waiting room. It happens at a kitchen table, in a quiet backyard, in the minute before bed when someone asks, "How was your day?"

What therapies are offered on campus?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed individual therapy, group sessions, and family therapy — all coordinated by our on-site clinical team with no outside referrals needed.

How long is a typical stay?

Most placements range from 6 to 18 months, always paced to the child's treatment plan — not a calendar. The goal is always reunification or a safe transition.

Can families visit?

Family involvement is central to our model. Scheduled visits, family therapy sessions, and regular communication with guardians are built into every plan.

Is New Era RTC South licensed?

Yes — fully licensed by the State of Texas and operating under DFPS oversight. Our 72-bed campus has been serving youth in conservatorship since 2019.

If a child is on your mind, we're already listening.

Case worker, clinician, guardian, neighbor — whoever's calling, the conversation starts the same way. Pick up the phone, or come walk the campus. We'll meet you where you are.
